Wow, time keeps flying by... The 8x8x8 is so very close to being released. We have 7 units being burnt-in this week to weed out any defective LED's. If all goes well, Units will be available this weekend. uSD software is still being polished but I am confident in the Hardware so that option can be enabled with a software update after you guys get them.
Look out for a video this week! As well as beta software for you guys to start making patterns.

Would be a waste of time and money for us both to cut off the led cube you deliver to be able to connect my own led cube to the platform.

This weekend definitely I'll have final prices, video and Beta software available.
DeleteI'll add platforms as and option to the kits. The platforms are drilled to fit the controller and accepts LED's cages that have 1inch spacing. I could (also as an option) leave the platforms undrilled for custom applications.
For your last question. Merging cube files to the 8x8x8 cube is simple as just adding multiple patterns to the SD card (using the cube software). You will be able to loop patternA for a specified number then it will go to patternB... etc.
